Sergio Tezanos just might be the most talented luthier of the famous Tezanos family of luthiers. He is the nephew of Mariano Tezanos II, the famous maker who was in turn the son of Mariano Tezanos Senior, maker of many of the most prized Ramirez guitars of the 60s. For the past decade, Sergio has been regularly commissioned to make the most expensive Bernabe models. This is a pristine example of Sergio's Madrid model which, along with the Maria model, figures as his top-of-line guitar with the finest woods and internal design. The sound, distinctive to Sergio, is extremely smooth, silky, balanced, lyrical, and open with solid projection, sustain, and focus. This particular rosewood contributes to the dense and rounded shape of the notes which are nevertheless quite clear. Although the guitar is near new, it already possesses the free and refined singing quality one would expect from a mature concert instrument.
